KAMUELA—In a stunning reversal, House Judiciary Chair David Tarnas now believes term limits in the Hawaii legislature are a good idea.
"I single-handedly killed this measure in the 2023 legislative session," said Tarnas, "but the more I think about it, I want more Hawaiians to experience the joys and perks of a corrupt body of power."
Tarnas said in a statement that he's growing tired of just a handful of representatives and senators receiving brown paper bags of cash in abandoned parking lots.
"Equity is important to me, and there's no better place to start than in the legislative body."
While several citizens have been able to gain employment in state or county job positions—and subsequently become beneficiaries of free trips to Las Vegas via bribes and the awarding of contracts to their friends—Tarnas says it's only natural that the next step toward equity is to remove the incumbents, often a "barrier to getting elected."
Tarnas hopes in twenty years that no one in Hawaii will know the definition of corruption. "Hopefully," he said, "we'll all be doing it!"
