DES MOINES—Not to be outdone by Oprah and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, actor Jason Momoa is setting up his own charity to help raise money for Maui and Iowa residents who almost lost their Corvette and/or their cat to a tragic kitchen fire.
Called the "Aquaman Actor's Fund of Mau-Owa," Momoa said the money will go to "the millions of Americans on Maui and in Iowa who have almost experienced a tragedy similar to the Maui fires."
The Baywatch and Game of Thrones actor says he was moved by President Biden's empathetic story of how he almost lost his prized Corvette and cat to a devastating kitchen fire at one of his multiple homes.
Born in Hawaii but raised in Iowa, Momoa has been looking for a way to make himself more important in both states. "The states are so similar to each other," he explained. "They both have people, Corvettes and cats!"
Momoa kickstarted the fund with $100, and he expects to raise millions more from Maui service employees who lost their jobs after the fires when the tourists headed his call to cancel their vacations.
